Seiz Technical Gloves GmbH – Competence in gloves

SEIZ has been producing high-quality protective gloves since 1961. The idea of producing gloves with innovative designs and new fits was born in an old farmhouse.

To this day, SEIZ continues to adapt to constantly changing requirements. The company is still based in Metzingen (South Germany) but now in a modern building with offices, a small production facility and a fully automated pallet warehouse. This combines tradition and modernity.

In addition to the company headquarters, the idea of revolutionary innovations and innovative designs has also remained. In 1994, SEIZ launched the world’s first fully textile firefighting glove on the market (FIRE-FIGHTER PREMIUM). Many inventions and awards later, the patented ZIP‘N’CLOSE system followed in 2021 as a quick fastener for firefighting gloves, which has since established itself on the market.

SEIZ protective gloves must always meet high standards in terms of quality, material, functionality and protection. Special high-performance yarns, KEVLAR®, NOMEX®, PBI® and membranes from GORE-TEX® as well as controlled production play a decisive role here. In addition to functionality and fit, the safety of firefighters is the top priority. The high-quality standard is ensured by the company’s own laboratory at the site, where raw materials are put through their paces before they are used in production.

The portfolio is structured in such a way that fire brigades can fully equip themselves with SEIZ gloves. In addition to firefighting and technical gloves, insulating gloves with arc fault protection and chemical protection gloves from the industrial sector round off the portfolio in the firefighting sector.

In conjunction with many partners, SEIZ employees are on site with fire brigades to provide them with the best possible advice and equipment for upcoming operations.

It goes without saying that suggestions for improvement made to the team by the fire and rescue services are followed up as far as technically feasible. In this way, new and further developments are constantly being created.

In recent years, these developments have centred on climate change, which is causing more and more forest and vegetation fires in Germany and Europe. Unfortunately, there are many indications that this will not change in the near future. Fire brigades must therefore arm themselves and prepare for the new situation. Protective clothing and gloves in particular play an important role in this.

‘When fighting fires in open terrain, firefighters need gloves that are lighter than for house fires, but still very robust, resistant and, above all, non-flammable,’ says Dominik Hantke, Consultant for Firefighting Gloves at SEIZ. That’s why many firefighters turn to protective gloves for technical assistance. Although these are lighter than classic firefighting gloves in accordance with EN 659, they are predominantly made of non-flame-retardant material. This is why the MAGNUS glove was developed, which is suitable and certified for firefighting in open terrain as well as for technical assistance. Its design is based on the MECHANIC 185 technical assistance glove and therefore kills two birds with one stone.

‘The MAGNUS is very popular with firefighters and is also often worn in classic forest fire countries such as Greece and Spain,’ says Dominik Hantke.

In addition, the team led by Managing Director Rainer Seiz, who used to be an active firefighter himself and is therefore very familiar with the subject, is constantly working on further innovations to ensure that firefighters are always provided with the best possible gloves for their operations. Last but not least, the focus is also on sustainability aspects.
