Magirus delivers 20 Magirus AirCore TAF60-X remote-controlled firefighting units to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC)

Magirus, the world’s leading manufacturer of turntable ladders and a pioneer in innovative firefighting technologies, is delivering 20 remote-controlled firefighting support units of the Magirus AirCore TAF60-X type to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). With this second order in three years, SEC – Saudi Arabia’s largest energy provider – is expanding its fleet with the latest generation of Magirus’ proven technology.

SEC has relied on Magirus’ remote-controlled firefighting solutions since 2022, when several Magirus AirCore TAF35 systems were commissioned. Now, 20 Magirus AirCore TAF60-X units are being added – more modern, more powerful, and more versatile. These new tracked vehicles equipped with turbine technology can deliver up to 6,000 liters of water per minute, reach throw distances of up to 90 meters, and can be operated with high precision from up to 300 meters away. The movable head-mounted monitor – a second water cannon above the turbine – complements the centrally positioned, swiveling main monitor.

“Demand for remote-controlled firefighting systems and deployment robots is increasing significantly,” says Thomas Hilse, CEO of Magirus. “With the Magirus AirCore TAF60-X, we provide emergency services with a highly efficient, safe solution that offers variable application possibilities.” Marc Kuntz, Director Sales & Customer Service, adds: “For more than a decade, our firefighting and support robots have demonstrated reliable performance across the globe.”

The Magirus AirCore TAF series has proven its effectiveness in a wide range of scenarios – including fires in chemical plants, road tunnels, or underground parking garages. The fine water mist generated by the turbine cools effectively, binds smoke and gases, and helps keep escape routes open. Additionally, the system allows for the application of foam, gel, or additives – a clear advantage in the case of liquid or wildland fires.

The Magirus AirCore TAF60-X opens up new tactical possibilities – for ventilation, cooling, or targeted firefighting – while significantly enhancing responder safety. Thanks to the additional head monitor, vulnerable objects such as tank facilities can be cooled using the turbine, while fires in the surrounding area are tackled simultaneously with the independently controlled monitor.

With the deployment of the Magirus AirCore TAF60-X by SEC, fire protection for one of the Middle East’s most critical energy infrastructures is being sustainably strengthened. Thus, the technology from Ulm continues to protect the energy supply of over 36 million people in Saudi Arabia
